A Message From The President….END OF THE YEAR, SORT OF

Greetings to all members,

There is so much going on, I don’t even know where to start….

First thing—we wish a very speed recovery to Frank Opatik, who recently underwent quadruple bypass surgery. Frank hopes to be back participating in meetings in June—of course he might prefer his therapy take place on the golf course in the meantime! Patience, Frank!

Second—we congratulate our 2010-2011 Wausau Chapter CSI officers. The slate of officers really didn’t change from last year, however we did add Frank Opatik as Second Vice-President and Bob Kulp accepted Past-President. It has been and will continue to be, a pleasure to work with such an esteemed group of people! For a complete list of officers, please see page 10 in this issue of RibSpec.

Third—I’d personally like to congratulate the six new CSI members selected to Fellowship by the 2010 Jury of Fellows; specifically to Grif Griffin, our current NC Region director. Grif has been very helpful to me and our chapter during the last couple of years. I have had the pleasure to spend time with him and his wife Alana while attending conventions, shows and meetings, and have learned much about CSI from them. Way to go, Grif!

Fourth—have you checked out the new, updated CSI web site? Talk about a face-change! I’ve been to the web site several times, accessing information and navigating around. It’s a definite improvement—check it out and see what’s there for YOU! www.csinet.org

I was unable to attend the CSI show/convention this year, and very much miss getting together with the many wonderful members of CSI I have had the pleasure of meeting over the past several years. It was exciting to hear that the President’s workshop held last year was of such value that it is being held again this year, with added topics and time. What a great way to help out newly-elected CSI chapter presidents and vice-presidents.

So, even if you were unable to attend the convention, please plan to attend the NC region conference in Green Bay this summer. You will still have the opportunity to meet and network with many interesting people.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all those parties who contribute monthly articles for the use in our newsletter. I particularly enjoyed Sheldon’s and Ralph’s this month regarding specifications, as they are of particular interest to me—I’ll share my thoughts on this topic another time.

Next week’s meeting will be the last scheduled meeting for this year—I hope to see many of you there. Your board will be busy throughout the next couple of months putting together a whole new program for 2010- 2011. If you took the time to respond to our survey, thank you for your input.
